Siberian Ginseng also known as Eleuthero is a shrubby plant native to the forests of northeastern Asia including Siberia China Korea and Japan. Unlike true ginseng it belongs to a different genus but has a long history of traditional use in Chinese medicine as a tonic herb. It became particularly well known in the West after Soviet research in the 1960s and 70s studied its properties extensively. It is traditionally prepared as a decoction or tincture.
