Pau D’Arco comes from a large flowering tree native to the rainforests of South America particularly Brazil and Argentina. It has been used by indigenous peoples of the Amazon and Andes for centuries in traditional healing preparations. The inner bark is the part traditionally used and it contains lapacho compounds unique to this tree. It is traditionally prepared as a decoction simmered in water for 20 minutes or more.
