Meadowsweet is a beautiful wildflower that grows in damp meadows across Britain and Europe and has been used in European folk medicine for centuries. It is of historical significance as it was one of the plants from which salicin was first isolated leading eventually to the development of aspirin. Traditionally used as a soothing herb for the digestive tract it was also strewn as a floor herb in Tudor England for its lovely almond-like fragrance.
